Narayanghat-Kawasoti road halted yet again

KATHMANDU, Sept 24: The irate locals and the victim families have blocked the transportation at Pragatinagar-2 in Nawalparasi district along the Mahendra Highway on Tuesday morning.



The transportation which was halted yesterday by the irate locals demanding compensation had resumed at 2 am after an agreement to discuss the issue at 8 on Tuesday morning. [break]



“The locals and the family victims have again blocked the vehicular movements as part of pressure after the representatives from the Bus Entrepreneurs Association, Nawalparasi chapter did not turn up at the meeting slated for 8 am on Tuesday,” DSP Krishna KC of Nawalparasi District Police Office said.



Three members of a family had died on the spot yesterday when a bus, Lu 1 Kha 7364, en route to Bhairahawa from Kathmandu hit a motorbike, Na 19 Pa 8304, at Pragatinagar in Nawalparasi.



The killed in the incident are Ram Prasad Bhusal of Pragatinagar-6, his daughter Laxmi Bhusal Tiwari and grand-son Yugal Tiwari.

The irate locals have not yet received the bodies demanding compensation.



The security personnel from Kawasoti Area Police Office have been deployed to the site and trying to open the blockade, said police.
