Negotiations over adjusting party rank and files have been delaying the unification process, said a source close to the development. Leaders from both the parties confirmed that they are holding talks to conclude the unification process it at the earliest.
According to the sources, MPRF-N has offered the post of parliamentary party leader of the new party to be formed after the unification to FSP-N Chairman Rai.However, settling the differences over posts of vice-chairpersons, deputy-general-secretaries and other office bearers is proving a headache for both the parties.
"There are eight vice-chairpersons and about a dozen deputy-general secretaries in FSP-N, and all of them have refused to relinquish their posts, but our chairman does not entertain collective leadership system," said a leader of the party.
Vice-chairman of MPRF-N Lal Babu Raut said the unification talks had stalled as they had to focus on protests. "Settling differences over office bearers is not a big problem," Raut told Republica.
