KATHMANDU, Sept 24: Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar-led Madhesi People´s Right Forum-Democratic (MPRF-D) has claimed that it would win elections in the Muslim majority constituencies, saying it is the only party championing the cause of Muslims.

Vice Chairman of the party Mohammad Nasir Siddiqui said their party was the most inclusive as the party central committee includes leaders from all ethnic communities. “We will fight for institutionalization of the rights of Muslims in the new Constituent Assembly (CA),” said Siddiqui. [break]

Speaking at a function organized in the capital on Monday, Siddiqui said, “We are sure that our party will get maximum votes from the Muslim community.” He then accused the major parties of being biased toward the Muslim community.

Party Chairman Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar welcomed more than half a dozen of Muslim leaders into his party amidst the function. The newly joined leader Kayamuddin said he will take initiatives to mainstream Madrasa education.

Insisting that the activities of Central Hajj Committee (CHC) are not transparent, Kayamuddin said, “The selection of Hajji, Muslim pilgrims going for Mecca in Saudi Arabia, through lucky draw is against our religion.”

Kayammudin´s father Ahamaddin was the first Muslim lawmaker in the erstwhile BP Koirala-led government. “He [Ahamaddin] was the first person to advocate for the formation of CHC,” he added.
