KATHMANDU, Sept. 23: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Rajib Khatry has called for those responsible for incidents during the Gen Z movement to be brought to justice.
Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Wednesday, Khatry said the Gen Z movement was an uprising by conscious youths and called for Parliament to pass a resolution seeking justice for the movement and bring those responsible to justice.
Khatry recalled that RSP President Rabi Lamichhane, while addressing the first meeting of Parliament on April 2, had said that “the first right to justice belongs to the mothers of martyrs.” However, by the 58th meeting of Parliament, families of the martyrs had been left feeling humiliated, with their mothers reduced to tears, he said.

Expressing emotion over the deaths of youths during the Gen Z movement, Khatry said they had joined the protests carrying an anti-corruption message.
“There were notebooks and books in their bags, anti-corruption slogans on their lips, and they were shot in the chest and head and killed as if they were hardened terrorists,” he said.
Khatry said the government had promised that the blood of the martyrs and the tears of their families would be accounted for, but the mothers of the martyrs had now been forced to cry out in Parliament for justice for their sons’ sacrifices.
“We were told that the blood of the martyrs and the tears of their mothers would be accounted for, but the day has come when mothers have to cry out in Parliament, saying that their sons’ sacrifices were not made in exchange for positions,” he said.
Khatry also demanded that Parliament bring and pass a resolution declaring whether the Gen Z movement was indeed an uprising by conscious youths.
