The squatters from the All Nepal Squatters´ Association (ANSA) mercilessly thrashed CPN-UML district committee member Mahadev Bajgain. The local Lalratna Hospital has referred a seriously-injured Bajgain to Nepalgunj for treatment. A group led by ANSA Chairman Naresh Bahadur Shahi had beaten up Bajgain.
The CPN-UML staged demonstration at Lamki, Tikapur and Dhangadhi to protest the attack and action against the attackers.
CPN-UML leaders in Kailali said Maoists had earlier warned Bajgain alleging his involvement in Dudejhari incident.
Police in Lamki have arrested Kamal Adhikari of Masuriya-5 and Harka BK of Baliya-9 in connection with the attack on Bajgain.
Meanwhile, the CPN-UML said in a statement in Kathmandu that two party cadres -- Bishwa Nath Subedi and Dhan Narayan Tamang -- were seriously injured when Maoists thrashed them in Madi Rambeni VDC in Sankhuwasabha on Thursday.
