A cabinet meeting held on Sunday morning in Singha Durbar made the decisiontook a decision to this effect.[break]
As per the decision, each combatant will now receive Rs 6,500 per month in allowance, said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha, who is also the government spokesperson, after the meeting.
The cabinet meeting also formed a seven-member taskforce with the secretary at the Ministry of Culture as coordinator for management of burial grounds. Representatives from forests, land reforms and local development ministries, and from Kirat and Muslim communities will be members of the taskforce.
Christian and Kirat communities have since long been demanding burial grounds.
Similarly, the cabinet meeting also endorsed President Dr Ram Baran Yadav´s four-day state visit to Qatar due to begin on October 10.
PM orders eateries monitoring
Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has directed Secretary Leelamai Poudyal to monitor the hotels and restaurants along the highways and take action against the owners if they were found to be selling unhygienic food and fleecing the passengers.
The prime minister issued such a directive after receiving complaints that restaurants are charging passengers higher than the normal prices.
According to the prime minister´s personal assistant Bishwadeep Pandey, the prime minister has asked all to inform his secretariat about issues that are directly related to the people´s lives and need immediate action.
Meanwhile, the government Sunday appointed former secretary Bimal Wagle as the member of a committee formed to appoint the CEO of the Investment Board.
The committee is headed by the finance minister includes vice chairman of the National Planning Commission as member.
The idea of the Investment Board was floated by the government to improve investment climate in the country and provide one-window solution to potential investors, who usually complain about the red tape.
“The board will definitely be effective than other bodies formed to promote investment in the country,” Wagle told Republica. He said he is yet to attend the first meeting of the committee, date of which has not been fixed yet, and is not in a position to talk in detail about works of the committee.
