KATHMANDU, Nov 2: Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has said he will not be intimidated by threats, making an apparent indirect reference to Prime Minister Balendra Shah.

In a Facebook post on Monday evening, Thapa wrote: “It is exactly 18:00 now. Many have tried to intimidate me, but I am not in the habit of being frightened.”

I tried

Earlier, Prime Minister Shah had posted a warning-style message on social media, saying: “When the right time comes, everyone’s wrong time will come. No one should dream of escaping by thinking they can get away with it.”

The prime minister’s post had triggered speculation in political circles that it was directed at Thapa. The Nepali Congress president’s response came amid that discussion.

Thapa’s reference to “exactly 18:00” has also been interpreted as a sarcastic reference to allegations of an Rs 18 crore deal that have been circulated against him.

However, Thapa did not directly mention the prime minister by name in his post.
