Gupta said that the Maoists have hinted at amending the proposal.
Gupta ruled out any split in the alliance over their choice between Bhattarai and Poudel.
Gupta accused Nepali Congress and CPN-UML of lack of clear views on the peace process.
Gupta said the country will get the new prime minister in the first election scheduled for Sunday. He claimed no party can form the government without the support of UDMF, stating that it is a decisive force in the prime ministerial election.
Another senior Madhesi leader told Republica that they would vote for Bhattarai because they see slim hope of Congress addressing the Madhesi issues, completing the peace process and constitution drafting.
"We are almost sure to vote for Bhattarai. Only thing left is officially endorsing the name of Bhattarai from the alliance," said the leader on the condition of anonymity.
"We have found Bhattarai in between extreme communism and extreme status quoists," the leader further said.
