Leaders ask prez for maximum five days

KATHMANDU, Dec 18: Top leaders of the major political parties met President Dr Ram Baran Yadav at his office in Shital Niwas and urged him to give them three to five more days for the formation of consensus government, on Tuesday.



The president has already extended the consensus deadline four times upon the parties´ request. The president´s office is yet to make public its decision on whether it would grant yet another extension to the deadline, this time around. [break]



UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala, CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal and United Democratic Madhesi Front Coordinator Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar reached the president´s office to request him for the deadline extension.



UDMF consent equally needed: Gachchhadar




Exiting from the president´s office, Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, who also is the coordinator of United Democratic Madhesi Front, said the three major parties have ´bypassed´ the Madhesi front in talks held so far regarding the deadline extension.



He added any agreement reached among the three major political parties also requires consent of the Madhesi front and the prime minister.
