Koshi province presents Rs 40.45 billion budget

KATHMANDU, June 15: Koshi Province has presented a budget of Rs 40.45 billion for the upcoming fiscal year 2026/27, with only a limited portion expected from internal revenue sources.



Finance Minister Bidur Kumar Lingthep tabled the budget in the provincial assembly on Monday, allocating Rs 13.97 billion (34.55 percent) for current expenditure.


Capital expenditure has been set at Rs 30.76 billion (51.32 percent), while Rs 15 million has been allocated for financial management.

According to the budget statement, internal revenue is projected at only Rs 5.5 billion. Revenue sharing is expected to contribute Rs 12.87 billion, federal fiscal equalization grants Rs 9.12 billion, conditional grants Rs 6 billion, matching grants Rs 640 million, and special grants Rs 550 million.


The province also expects Rs 610 million from royalties and payments, while Rs 5 billion will be managed through cash balance.


The budget highlights continued reliance on federal transfers, with internal resources contributing a relatively small share of total expenditure.
