Khanal warns Maoist of dire consequences

LAHAN, Jan 18: The CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal on Wednesday warned the UCPN (Maoist) of dire consequences if the government’s decision of legalizing the transactions of properties during the conflict period is not revoked.



Khanal urged the Maoist to look for alternative of the incumbent government and to focus on the seven-point deal. [break]



Khanal was speaking to media at Lahan where he reached on Wednesday afternoon to participate in a program.



Khanal also opined that the current government can never be a national consensus government and that it has a status of a caretaker government.



The UML chairman said that the peace and constitution writing processes are in a brief halt due to laxity shown by the Maoist and assured that his party is completely focused on taking both the processes to its logical end.



He also criticized the government of failing to control the crimes in the country.



Khanal while mentioning the lawmaker Shyam Sundar Gupta´s case said that it is shameful to know that even a lawmaker is involved in such a heinous crime.



He was of opinion that culprits involved including Gupta should be punished appropriately according to the law.
