Jajarkot epidemic will be contained in few days: Minister Adhikari

KATHMANDU, April 21: Minister of Health and Population Khagaraj Adhikari has said the seasonal flu that has been taking a toll on the common people in Jajarkot district will be contained within a week.

Speaking at a Nagarik Show, Health and Population Minister Adhikari said those patients who came in contact with doctors have recovered and maintained that the epidemic will come under control in few days.


"The government is trying its best to contain the epidemic and the health condition will turn into normalcy within a week," said Minister Adhikari.

As soon as the disease broke out, health squads from Nepal Army, World Health Organization and National Academy of Medical Sciences have fanned out to the affected areas and been working day and night, said Adhikari.

The epidemic, which has infected thousands in 30 wards spread over more than a dozen VDCs, has already claimed 24 lives.

Severe headache, coughing, nausea with vomiting, and fever are among the symptoms of the disease.


Paink, Talegaun, Archhani, Pajaru, Nayakwada, Dasera, Majkot and Garkhakot are the most affected VDCs in the district.
