Indian Ambassador, Energy Minister discuss power trade

KATHMANDU, Feb 14: Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka on Friday. The meeting held in Singha Durbar dwelt on issues relating to Nepal-India energy cooperation.

Minister Khadka extended thanks to the Indian government for assisting Nepal in realizing hydropower projects, power trade and construction of additional transmission lines through the two-country mechanism.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, Minister Khadka and the Indian envoy discussed the issues related to early conclusion of the detailed project report of the Pancheshwar Multipurpose Project, and imminent visit of Indian Minister for Power, Manohar Lal Khattar to Nepal.   

On the occasion, Srivastava urged the minister to facilitate expediting the projects run with Indian investment. He showed India's readiness and continuous support to cooperate with Nepal for the latter's initiative in power trade, development of transmission line, and production of green hydrogen.
