KATHMANDU, March 31 : India's Central Electricity Authority has allowed the export of up to 600 MW of electricity to Nepal 24 hours a day from April 1 to 15.
From April 16 to 30, electricity export will be limited to 2 am to 6 pm, with supply cut from 6 pm to 2 am.
Nepal exports electricity worth Rs 8.32 billion to India
Nepal imports electricity annually from India during winter when river and stream flows are low, reducing hydropower generation. According to Hiteendra Dev Shakya, Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, 24-hour supply until mid-April will meet demand, and the 16-hour schedule afterward will still be sufficient.
The electricity will be transmitted via the Muzaffarpur–Dalkebar 400 kV line through the Indian power exchange. India plans to resume 24-hour, 600 MW exports from July 1 to August 31.
