KATHMANDU, June 16: A dormitory building for Lowo Nyiphug Namdrol Norbuling Monastic School at Lomanthang Rural Municipality–1 in Mustang, constructed with financial assistance from the Government of India, was jointly inaugurated on Monday, according to a press release issued by the Embassy of India in Kathmandu.
The facility was inaugurated by Indian Ambassador to Nepal H.E. Shri Naveen Srivastava and Lomanthang Rural Municipality Chairman Tashi Nharbu Gurung.
The double-storied dormitory, comprising four blocks along with allied facilities, was developed under the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) framework and implemented through the Lomanthang Rural Municipality, the press release stated.

According to the press release, the Lowo Nyiphug Namdrol Norbuling Monastic School has been playing a key role in preserving local cultural heritage. In addition to Buddhist teachings, the institution also offers a standard curriculum aligned with the Government of Nepal’s education system.
During the inauguration, Ambassador Srivastava extended best wishes to all stakeholders and reaffirmed India’s commitment to working closely with Nepal for shared growth and prosperity. Local representatives, school management, and stakeholders expressed gratitude for the support, stating that the new infrastructure will enhance accommodation facilities and improve the overall learning environment of the school.
The press release further stated that since the launch of the HICDP programme, nearly 600 projects have been implemented across all seven provinces of Nepal, spanning 74 districts. In Gandaki Province alone, 63 projects have been undertaken, including 18 in Mustang district.
It also highlighted broader assistance under the programme, including 126 ambulances and 52 school buses gifted to institutions in the health and education sectors across Gandaki Province, including 11 ambulances and six school buses in Mustang.
According to the press release, India and Nepal continue to engage in wide-ranging multi-sectoral cooperation, with HICDP projects reflecting India’s continued support in strengthening Nepal’s development priorities and infrastructure expansion.
