Ilam woman gets citizenship certificate at age of 90

MANGALBARE, April 29: A woman here has acquired a Nepali citizenship certificate at the age of 90.



Kalamaya Tamang of Aamchowk-6 was overwhelmed with happiness when she got the citizenship certificate for the first time in her life.



She was provided with the citizenship certificate by team leader Madhav Prasad Pokhrel during an Integrated Mobile Camp launched by the District Administration Office Ilam with a view to distributing citizenships to the people of remote parts of the district.



Upon receiving the citizenship certificate at her 90s, Kalamaya is confident of getting elderly allowance being provided by the state for senior citizens crossing 70 years of age.



During the camp, 469 people acquired the citizenship certificates whereas 524 registered their names in the biometric voters´ list. Similarly, 43 disabled took the identity cards.The camp had run from April 22 to 28.



Similarly, over 15,000 people benefited from the citizenship certificates in a camp operated at Chisapani of Banjo in the district. As many as 679 received the citizenship certificates, whereas 775 people got their names registered in the voters´ list.
