KATHMANDU, July 19: National Sports Council (NSC) Member Secretary Keshav Kumar Bista on Sunday said that he considers media reports related to the NSC as a reflection of himself and his activities. Bista made such comment during a program organized by Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) to welcome him at its office in Tripureshwar, Kathmandu.

Bista, who was appointed the executive chief of the NSC a few weeks earlier, said, "I find media as projecting my right and wrong deeds objectively. My close aides may praise my work, and those critical of me may dislike my work. But it is the media which gives exact picture of my deeds. I will take media reports as guide for improvement and course correction."Reiterating that he would leave no stone unturned to make his tenure a golden era in Nepali sports, Bista said, "There are many challenges and problems in sports. But they must be solved and the media can play a vital role in solving such problems."

He also said that he would take some concrete steps within the next three months that will give a positive message to the sports fraternity. He also cautioned the media to be careful as misleading news could damage career and goodwill of a person earned through years of hardships.

Welcoming Bista, NSJF President Ajay Phuyal wished Bista a successful tenure at the NSC and pointed out that sports sector was a virgin area in terms of development. "Former Member Secretary Sarad Chandra Shah is still remembered as capable sports administrator for reform work carried in infrastructure development. Even small reform works could turn into big achievement in sports sector," Phuyal said.

NSJF IPP Niranjan Rajbanshi shed light on NSJF and its activities. "Your good work will earn praise in the media, while your failings will be criticized. If you work for betterment of Nepali sports, NSJF is ready to support you," said Rajbanshi.
