Human chain formed to mark 100th week of Bagmati cleaning campaign

KATHMANDU, April 11: The 100th week of the Bagmati River Cleanliness Campaign was marked on Saturday morning with participation of thousands of people from Sundarijal to Sundarighat. The participants formed a human chain of 56 kilometers along the riverbanks.

The greater campaign kicked off with the singing of the national anthem and oath taking to keep the river clean.

Chief Secretary of the government Leela Mani Paudyal, who led the campaign from the very beginning of the Bagmati River Cleanliness Campaign move started on May 18, 2013, is leading the team at Okhreni Secondary School in Sundarijal.

Paudyal said that the human chain was formed at 8:15 am.

Prime Minister Sushil Koirala attended the campaign at Pashupatinath-Tilganga area, according to PM's press coordinator Prakash Adhikari.

Likewise, CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli was accompanied by other UML leaders at Thapathali in the clean-up campaign.



Similarly, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal attended at Tinkune area.
