While meeting Minister for Forests and Land Conservation Agni Sapkota in Beijing on Thursday, Chen, Deputy Director of International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China, committed that his country will boost investment in infrastructural development in Nepal.
Minister Sapkota, who left for to Beijing with a special message from the UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Monday, discussed Nepal-China and UCPN (Maoist)-CPC relations with the Chinese Vice-minister.
“Vice-minister Chen expressed his happiness saying that Nepal has entered into an era of economic prosperity after enforcing a new constitution,” Minister Sapkota told Republica, “Its right time for increasing investment in Nepal and China is avid of the matter.”
Chen had visited Nepal last year and holds status equal to that of vice-foreign minister in China.
During the meet, Chen applauded the role of UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Dahal in constitution drafting and inquired on agitating Madhes-based parties and possible unification among Maoist parties.
Minister Sapkota said that blockade by India has severely impacted Nepal’s economy and conveyed that Nepal’s has pinned hope on the northern neighbor.
“China reiterated commitments on resuming Tatopani checkpoint and selling fuel to Nepal,” Minister Sapkota said.
