Nepal Civil Service Employee Association, Nepal Civil Service Employee Union, Nepal National Civil Service Employee Association, Federation of Nepal National Civil Service Employees, Nepal Health Workers Association, VDC Employees Association Nepal, Nepal Madhesi Civil Service Employee Forum and VDC Secretary Welfare Centre active in the district issued a joint press release and announced the strike.
The government employee associations demanded legal action against the murderer of Jha and said that civil servants cannot work confidently unless the environment of fear and threat remains. The main market centers, including Jaleswor, remained quiet due to the strike.
Jha had sustained injuries on his way to office from his residence at Janakpur-7 Thursday morning when Janatantik Terai Mukti Morcha (Rajan Group) opened fire on him. He died while he was undergoing treatment in Kathmandu.
