Ang Phurba Sherpa, manager of the store, said they have been recording average daily sales of Rs 100,000. "Our main feature is that we guarantee all our products. We haven´t received any complaint from our clients so far," Sherpa said, adding, "Though our products are relatively high priced, our transaction volume is more than what we had expected."[break]
About 40 percent of the total costumers that the store draws are Nepalis, according to Sherpa. He also said quality goods have been drawing customers to the store.
Apart from quality clothes, the store that opened in September, 2009, has a wide variety of trekking accessories like back packs, sleeping bags, crampons, ice axes, carabineer, harness, climbing ropes and ice screw among others. The store also has other stuffs like water bottle, insulation mattress, water purification filter and tablet and ski poles among others.
From last year, Sherpa Adventure Gear started locally manufacturing 95 percent of the garments that it sells at the store. Before starting the store in Nepal, the garments under the Sherpa brand used to be exported to 15 different countries, including Argentina, Chile, Canada, Colombia, Italy, Australia, Switzerland, Thailand, Spain and US among others.

The store has given local names for the garments that it is producing. Trimurti jacket priced Rs 21,675 is the most expensive jacket at the store. The jacket can be used both in winter and summer days, according to Sherpa. The inner part of this jacket can be used for casual wear, while the outer layer is best suitable for trekking.
The store is also getting encouraging feedbacks for its Vajra jacket which is very light, soft and warm and is made of primaloft material. Lechen (casual jacket) is also becoming popular. The sale of other jackets and T-shirts is also encouraging, according to Sherpa.
Sherpa Adventure Gear imports fibers and fleeces to manufacture jackets and other garments from other countries. This makes our products more expensive than other products, Sherpa said.
The garments with local names like Vajra, Dorje, Kalpana and Trimurti among others are becoming extremely popular among mountaineers and adventure enthusiasts. "By giving local names and symbols to our products, we want to make our products unique and make them more popular," Sherpa said.
Since sunny days are here again, the store is all prepared to unveil its spring collection. The store will showcase T-shirts, half pants, long sleeves and different light weight clothes for this summer season. Summer wears at Sherpa Adventure Gear start from Rs 2,000, Sherpa said, adding that summer wears could be used for both trekking or casual purposes.
