Gold prices up by Rs 1,499/tola

KATHMANDU: The price of gold went up by Rs 1,499 per tola (11.664 gram) to Rs 55,800 per tola on Thursday. Gold was traded at Rs 54,301 per tola on Wednesday.



According to Mani Ratna Shakya, the president of the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Associations, gold prices increased due to a price surge in the international bullion market. [break]



"Gold climbed to US$ 1,363 per troy ounce in the international market on Thursday, compared to Wednesday’s price of $1,297 per troy ounce," Shakya added. Similarly, the price of silver went up by Rs 39 per tola to Rs 959 per tola on Thursday.
