According to the police, Shrestha used to work in the house of Uhi Chaturvedi in Kishangunj, Delhi. She kidnapped his 1.5-year-old daughter Baibhavi Chaturvedi on June 6 and brought her to Nepal via Biratnagar and kept her at a guest house in Sundhara, Kathmandu. [break]
Shrestha had called the Chaturvedi family from Room No 304 of the guest house asking for a ransom of US$150,000.
The Chaturvedi family was supposed to arrive in Nepal on Friday. Suraksha went to the Tribhuvan International Airport to receive them, but they didn´t come as part of the police´s plan to bust Shrestha.
Police arrested Shrestha on her way back from the airport. Her accomplice, 18-year-old Babita Paswan, was also arrested from the guest house later in the day.
