A local resident, Dhan Bahadur Bogati, had during police interrogation confessed to killing the girl after raping her. Acting on Bogati´s police statement, police with help of local people tried to locate the victim´s body but ended up finding her laying conscious in a nearby jungle.
During police interrogation, Bogati had said he killed the girl, a permanent resident of Shripur VDC, by smashing her head with a stone after rape. DSP Rishiram Kandel at the Kailali District Police said that her treatment is underway at a local hospital. The girl is still unconscious, DSP Kandel said. The victims has sustained a serious head injury.
