Giri, Bomjan win golds

KATHMANDU: Puja Giri of Dhapasi Taekwondo Dozang and Muna Bomjan of Maha Laxmi Taekwondo Dozang clinched gold medals during the First National Open ITF Taekwondo Championship on Tuesday.



Giri won gold in the women´s 46-50 kg weight category defeating Sushma Bomjan of Maha Laxmi Dozang in the final held at New Bus Park, Gongabu. Similarly, Muna Bomjan defeated her club-mate Pushpa BK in the final of women´s above 50 kg section. [break]



In the women´s 36-40 kg category, Nishma Basyal of Dhapasi defeated Binita Timilsina of Banepa Taekwondo Dozang to claim gold while Ranju Pulami Magar of Dhapasi beat Shanti Khatri of Kanchanpur Dozang in the final of women´s 41-45 kg section.



Earlier, National Sports Council Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama inaugurated the tournament. Altogether 148 players are vying for 24 golds in the three-day tournament.



Prakash Dahal nominated NOM vice-president



KATHMANDU:
Prakash Dahal, son of UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has been nominated as the vice-president of Nepal Olympic Museum on Tuesday.



Similarly, historian Professor Dinesh Raj Pant and Jal Krishna Shrestha were named as advisors, according to the museum´s president, Kshitiz Arun Shrestha.
