KATHMANDU, March 12: German Ambassador to Nepal Matthias Meyer has held a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner Neelkantha Uprety on Thursday at the Election Commission. During the meeting, the ambassador enquired on a range of issues such as chances on holding local bodies' elections and preparations in this regard and Germany's possible technical, economic support for the same.

Ambassador Meyer and the Chief Election Commissioner exchanged views on Nepal's inability to hold periodic elections, capacity-building and Germany's possible support to election management, the commission said in a press statement on Thursday. CEC Uprety expressed gratitude to the ambassador for his willingness to support Nepal's election system as well as EC's institutional development, the statement said.
