Safety nets have been installed around the damaged portions of the building as workers have been deployed to repair the cracks.
According to Arvind Kumar Mahasethi, senior project manager, the condition of the building is 'not as bad as it looks from outside'."Scaffolding has been erected mend the cracks. The building's foundation and pillars are still strong as the earthquake has affected the walls only. The repair work will take some time," said Mahasethi, who is one of the experts involved in the construction of the building.
A group of consultants has been hired to inspect the damage caused to the building. As per their preliminary observation, the electrical circuits along with the elevators are in working condition.
"The cracks visible from outside has not affect any pillars. The damaged are cosmetic parts like walls, tiles and marbles," said Mahasethi.
However, he shared that only after the final report on the damage comes that any decision on the future of the building will be made. "We have sent our report to Singapore and it will take at least six days to arrive. We cannot say anything further right now," said Mahaesthi.
