Ex-PM Bhattarai blames status quoists of hindering during his tenure

PARASI, Oct 23: Former Prime Minister and leader of the UCPN-Maoist Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said he could not do as much as he wanted during his tenure as premier due to the status quoists.



He said although his party UCPN-Maoist wanted to do something, the Nepali Congress, and CPN-UML  created hindrance in working for the people. He was addressing a village level workers´ gathering at Kawasoti of Nawalparasi on Wednesday. [break]



He said his party only could present a budget once, but had brought many people-oriented programmes. He said the programmes brought by his party when his party chairman  was prime minister and he was finance minister were quite popular.



Bhattarai also said there was dangers of constitution not being drafted if UCPN-Maoist could not get majority in election and added the country will not break if there was federalism with ethnic identity.



Bhattarai is a candidate in Rupandehi Constituency No. 4 and was on the way to the constituency and addressed programmes in Mukundapur and other places.
