DSP KC released on bail

KATHMANDU, July 12: Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dinesh KC, one of the accused in the Darfur Mission corruption scandal, was released on a bail Tuesday.

As per the special court order, DSP KC was jailed on Sunday, after he failed to deposit the bail amount of Rs. 3.5 million.

DSP KC is one of the 34 incumbent and former police officials facing corruption charges filed by the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). The CIAA said corruption worth Rs. 290 million was committed during the procurement of APCs and other logistics for the police mission in Darfur of Sudan.

According to the registrar of the Special Court, the defendant has been released on bail after he deposited the required bail amount as demanded by the Court.
