Former national spiker Kamal Panta, 43, of Geta-2 didn´t regain consciousness after being administered anesthesia before the operation for removing a steel rod from his right hand.[break]
The victim´s elder brother Basudev on Wednesday lodged a murder case against Dr Nara Bahadur Mainali, who conducted the surgery, with Kailali Police.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Basanta Panta said the doctor is currently under police protection for security reasons, but Kailali Police is preparing to hand out an arrest warrant and detain him for investigations. Post mortem of the former player´s body was done at Seti Zonal Hospital Wednesday.
Meanwhile all services at Padma Hospital have been halted since Tuesday evening after irate relatives and locals vandalized the hospital and torched beds. Several patients recovering after surgeries have been affected due to the hospital closure.
Local administration has mobilized the Armed Police Force (APF) personnel in large numbers for security of the hospital.
The locals have shut down Attariya Wednesday demanding action against the ´offending´ doctor. Vehicular movement has also been halted affecting the public transportation.
