KATHMANDU, Jan 28: Chandragiri Municipality-2 Ward Chairman Bhai Krishna Tamang has been found corrupt. The Special Court on Tuesday found Tamang guilty of accepting a bribe of Rs 400,000 to recommend the relocation of an industry.
The bench of the Special Court judges, including chairperson Tek Narayan Kunwar and members Ram Bahadur Thapa and Ritendra Thapa, sentenced Tamang to six months in prison and imposed a fine of Rs 400,000.
Ward Chairman Tamang had demanded bribes through intermediaries to transfer P3 Products and Vista Iconic Production Pvt Ltd, located in Nakkhu, Lalitpur Metropolitan City-22, to Chandragiri-2, Basundole, and to get recommendations for electricity connection. The CIAA had filed a case in the Special Court on July 4 after a complaint was filed that he had received Rs 200,000 in cash and a cheque of Rs 200,000 from Dhruba Bahadur Kadayat of the same ward.
The CIAA has also made Kadayat the defendant in the case for facilitating the arrangement for the bribe.
According to the anti-graft body, Tamang demanded a bribe of Rs 400,000 from Shesh Narayan Adhikari, the business partner of complainant Urmila Pandey, to recommend the relocation of their industry.
