KATHMANDU, March 31: An emergency cabinet meeting expected to take concrete decisions on the demands raised by Dr Govinda KC ended inconclusively as the ministers were divided over the issue.

Ministers representing UML and Minister Narahari Acharya, representing Nepali Congress in the cabinet, advocated against the Dr KC's demands, sources privy to the meeting said.

"Ministers advocated in favor of medical colleges. The Prime Minister could not take any decisions against the ministers," sources added, "He could have taken the decision."

However, General Administration Minister Lalbabu Pandit said the meeting decided to take decisions in line with existing legal provisions. "The meeting has decided to show maximum flexibility to address his (KC's) demands," Minister Pandit added, "However, we will not address any demands against existing laws.".
