British CoAS in Nepal

KATHMANDU, Feb 4: The British Army´s Chief of the General Staff General Sir David Richards, arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday on a four-day visit.



General Richards, accompanied by his wife Caroline Richards, will pay courtesy calls on President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Defense Minister Bidya Bhandari and Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Chhatra Man Singh Gurung, the UK embassy in Kathmandu said.



Also a colonel commandant of Brigade of Gurkhas, General Richards is scheduled to visit Pokhara on Saturday where he will inspect activities of the British Gurkhas Welfare Trust (BGWT).



General Richards is expected to explore areas in which the British Army could help Nepal in future, sources at the British embassy said.
