KATHMANDU, Dec 25: The 7th edition of the COAS invitational international women's football tournament that was hosted by the Nepal Army, was concluded at the Nepal Army headquarters’ ground, by COAS General Purna Chandra Thapa, amidst a grand closing ceremony.
In the Final match, played between Armed Police Force team and Tribhuvan Army Club, APF managed to inflict defeat on the Army club by a score line of 2-0. The winning APF team was felicitated with a medal, certificate, trophy and the winning prize of Nrs.300, 000(Three lakh Rupees). Along with that the Chief gave the best player of the tournament from the Army team, Deepa Rai, a scooter, sponsored by Yamaha Company.

The Army team that finished as runner’s up received Nrs. 150,000(one lakh fifty thousand), runner’s up medal and certificate from Nepal Olympic committee chairman, Jeevan Ram Shrestha. For the teams that lost in the semis, The Nepal Police team and the team from Bhutan, each received Nrs. 50,000(Fifty Thousand) from the Director General of Armed Police Force, Gen. Shailendra Khanal. The best midfielder, forward and team coach were felicitated by Youth and Sports Ministry, Secretary, Ram Prasad Thapaliya. The best defender and goal keeper were given their respective awards by Lieutenant General of the Nepalese Army, Gen. Sharad Kumar Giri.
The officials and the referees for the tournament were felicitated by ANFA President, Karma Tshiring Sherpa, while the Rising player of the tournament award was presented to upcoming prospect of the Tribhuvan Army team, Bimala B.K. by Army Officer’s Wives’ Committee, Vice-President, Rita Giri.
In the 7th edition of the tournament two foreign and six local including three departmental teams took part in the competition organized in coordination with All Nepal Football Association.
The participating teams included The Sikkim football club of India and the Bhutanese football team from abroad and local teams, Nepal Army Club, Nepal Police Club, Armed Police Force Club, province no. 1, province no. 2 and province no. 3 teams.
The tournament that kicked off at the NA headquarters ground on December 15 concluded with a grand closing ceremony and was graced by Former Chiefs of the Nepal Army, Current and former Lieutenant Generals, Nepal based high ranking Foreign Army Officials, Officials of other Security Agencies, Nepal Army Officials, Media persons and many enthusiastic football fans.
