KATHMANDU, March 11: Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal Md Shafiqur Rahman hosted an iftar dinner in honour of heads of mission and members of the diplomatic corps in Kathmandu on Tuesday. Senior officials from Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other distinguished guests attended the event.
According to a press statement issued by the Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu, the ambassador welcomed the guests by extending Ramadan greetings and highlighting the spirit and teachings of the holy month of Ramadan. He underscored the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and Nepal and reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties.

The Bangladeshi envoy also congratulated the people of Nepal on the peaceful and successful elections, describing them as an important milestone in the country’s democratic journey. He praised the people’s aspiration and resilience in ensuring a smooth democratic transition and expressed Bangladesh’s willingness to work closely with the new government of Nepal.
Referring to Bangladesh’s journey towards democracy and reforms, the ambassador said the government of Bangladesh remains committed to advancing democratic reforms and building a discrimination-free, corruption-free and prosperous nation under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The evening concluded with iftar followed by dinner, featuring a combination of international cuisine and Bangladeshi seafood delicacies.
Heads of mission from 18 embassies, as well as representatives from international and regional organisations, attended the event held at a hotel in Kathmandu. The guests included ambassadors from Germany, France, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Finland, Japan, Egypt and Myanmar, as well as chargés d’affaires from the United States, Malaysia and the Russian Federation, and deputy chiefs of mission from India and the United Kingdom.
The SAARC Secretary General, the UN Resident Coordinator and the head of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Nepal also attended the iftar dinner.
