KATHMANDU, March 27: Nepal is set to welcome a new Prime Minister today, with President Ram Chandra Paudel scheduled to administer the oath of office and secrecy to Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) senior leader Balendra Shah at 12:34 PM at Sheetal Niwas.
Balen will be formally informed of his appointment prior to the ceremony. The new government is set to be formed under Article 76(1) of the Constitution of Nepal, paving the way for a single-party administration.

According to the President’s Office, the swearing-in ceremony will take place this afternoon, with invitations extended to leaders of various political parties, members of the diplomatic corps, civil society representatives, and senior government officials. Ministers are also expected to take the oath alongside the Prime Minister.
In the House of Representatives (HoR) election held on March 4, the RSP emerged as the largest party, securing 182 seats. The party on Thursday elected Shah as its parliamentary party leader.
Shah was elected from Jhapa Constituency-5 with 68,348 votes. Earlier the same day, the senior-most HoR member, Arjun Narasingh KC, administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly elected members of parliament.
