Nepal Airlines Corporation´s Dubai-Kathmandu flight had to stop over in New Delhi for a few hours before flying off to Kathmandu, while Gulf Air had to hold its plane in Simara´s sky for around an hour before landing at the TIA. Similarly, Air India also canceled one of its morning flights.
“The weather condition delayed the flights of Nepal Airlines Corporation and Gulf Air by a few hours, but it did not affect flight movements of other airlines,” Bharat Raj Dhakal, spokesperson at the TIA, told myrepublica.com.
The bad weather condition also resulted in cancellation of around 30 per cent of domestic flights. According to the TIA, none of the flights left for Pokhara on Monday, while only one mountain flight was operated, compared with around 4-5 every day. In total, the TIA handled only 53 domestic flights on Monday, Dhakal said.
