APF and New Diamond to vie for title

NEPALGUNJ, March 12: New Diamond Academy will take on Nepal APF Sports Club in the Prime Minister Cup Indo-Nepal Invitational Women's Volleyball Championship title clash in Nepalgunj on Thursday.

According to tournament coordinator Tanka Singh Thakuri, New Diamond and APF reached the final by the virtue of points gained from the league matches.


New Diamond accumulated nine points while APF earned eight as Nepal Police Club finished third with seven points.

Wednesday's fixtures saw New Diamond complete a 3-0 sets win over defending champion Police with a score of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-11.

“Though we did not have our main spiker Ramila Tandukar today, our win was the outcome of tremendous team work and spirit,” said New Diamond captain Lalita Nath.

In another match, APF completed a 3-1 sets victory over Western Region. Winning the first and second sets 25-22 and 25-15, APF went down in the third set 34-32, before sealing the victory with a crushing 25-8 fourth set win.
