POKHARA, Sept 2: New Diamond Academy and the departmental team Nepal Police Club are set to vie for the title of the ongoing National Women’s Volleyball Tournament in Pokhara to be held on Monday.
In the first semifinal played at Lamachaur on Sunday, New Diamond beat home team Gandaki on straight sets of 25-18, 25-20, 25-19 with the help of inspired performances from Sipora Gurung and Pratibha Mali. Gurung recently joined New Diamond.

Likewise, in the second last four clash, Police saw off Shree Ram 25-11, 25-7, 25-6 on straight sets to set its final clash against New Diamond.
Earlier, Gandaki and Shree Ram had advanced into the semifinals of the tournament in virtue of Group A winner and runner-up, while Police finished as the Group B winner and New Diamond qualified as the group runner-up.
In the group stages matches played on Saturday, Police beat New Diamond in a stunning 3-2 victory of 32-30, 25-22, 15-25, 24-26, 15-5 to reach the last four as the group winner.
On the same day, Gandaki saw off Shree Ram 25-21, 23-25, 25-17, 25-19 to get to the last four as group winner.
Also, in the group stages, Police defeated Chitwan Tigress on straight sets of 25-20, 25-18, 25-12, while Shree Ram overcame Paramount English Boarding School of Kathmandu 25-17, 20-25, 25-23, 25-21 to make its semifinal path strong.
