Ambassador Nepal presents credentials

KATHMANDU, Sept 3: Nepalese non-residential ambassador to New Zealand, Rudra Kumar Nepal presented credentials to the QSO governor-general and commander-in-chief in and over the Realm of New Zealand, Sir Jerry Mateparae GNZM at a special ceremony held in Auckland, New Zealand, on Tuesday.

Issuing a press statement, Nepalese embassy in Australia, which is also concurrently accredited to New Zealand informed regarding the ceremony on Tuesday. [break]

During the ceremony, Ambassador Nepal recalled the existing friendship and cooperation between Nepal and New Zealand which began with the first successful ascent of Sagarmatha (Mt. Everest) by Sir Edmund Hillary, a New Zealander, and Tenzing Norgey, a Nepali Sherpa more than 60 years ago.

“Given the opening up of new prospects and opportunities in an increasingly interdependent and globalizing world, the Ambassador hoped that these relations would be further expanded and diversified in various areas for the benefit of the two countries in the days ahead,” embassy said in the statement.

On the occasion, the Governor-General concurred with the longstanding friendly relations between the two countries reaffirming the strong bonds of goodwill and friendship between the peoples of the two countries leading to more frequent contacts and interactions in recent years. He reassured the ambassador of full cooperation in the discharge of his duties on behalf of the Government of New Zealand.
