KATHMANDU, March 20: Agitating students of CPN-UML-aligned All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), who were staging a relay hunger in front of the central party office, Balkhu, called off the protest on Wednesday.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the party Standing Committee’s decision to form a 141-member 21st National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC), they were staging relay hunger strike demanding a review of the SC decision.[break]

They decided to withdraw the ongoing agitation after party Chairman Jhalanath Khanal issued a direction in writing to the concerned department of the party to resolve the matter put forth by the agitating students.

Directing the party student In-charge Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, Coordinator of NCOC, Madhuv Dhungel and his deputy Sudip Kumar Shah, to resolve the matter appropriately, chairman Khanal said that the attention of the party is drawn by the concerns raised by the agitating students.

Dissatisfied students were holding protest outside the party office since Sunday saying that party authority did not give any responsibility to 212 of the 353 ANNFSU central committee members.
