A promising event for commerce students

KATHMANDU, July 12: With ebullient crowd gathered at every stall, The British College Nagarik EduFair ’13 is a gratifying event for youths seeking to know about colleges. The three-day event that commenced on Thursday at Bhrikuti Mandap has been drawing a large of number of students keen to know about Nepali and international institutions offering management courses, amongst other subjects.



Explaining the reason behind the increasing interest of the students in management, the spokesperson of GoldenGate International College said, “Management has a huge scope as every institution needs management committee for its effective execution. It is the sector with maximum employment opportunity.”[break]



The education fair has an overwhelming number of domestic and International colleges, proving to be a resourceful platform for students who are usually confined with the notion of a few colleges. One of such students is Nisha Bhatta, who recently completed her A-Levels from Rato Bangala School. “Before coming to this fair, I had very limited options for colleges offering management courses. But after visiting the stalls, I now have a bunch of colleges on my list, both foreign and domestic,” she said.



The British College (TBC) stall witnessed a significant number of visitors, as it is the pioneering college in Nepal offering internationally recognized qualifications from UK Universities. Elaborating this provision of the college, Suman Shrestha, Marketing Manager of TBC, said, “We have been observing that Nepali students go abroad to attend foreign degrees. However, they have to pay a huge cost and undergo a lengthy documentation process. In order to discourage this, we have offered management courses under British certification, so that the students can gain international degree in Nepal itself. ”



Under the validation of Leeds Metropolitan University, TBC has been offering MBA (Executive) and BA (Hons) Business and Management courses to its students. Additionally, under the certification of University of West of England, it also offers masters degree in International Management.



Also Indian colleges have been a center of attraction for many management students. One of these colleges is Bangalore Management Academy (BMA), which has been offering MBA course under the certification of UK based Cardiff Metropolitan University.



Elaborating on the scope of management in India, the counselor at BMA stall said, “In India, if one excels academically in the management faculty, jobs are offered right up front. Economically booming cities like Pune and Hyderabad have huge scope for management students.”



Following the educational fair, the non-science students expressed huge satisfaction on the hospitality of the event.



“All the counselors were very affable and elucidated the details about their colleges in a very efficient manner. I not only have learnt about new management courses but all my doubts regarding the application process have also been cleared,” shared Parakram Lama, a visitor at the fair.



The educational fair is scheduled to end today.
