Three persons, including a child, were killed in the landslide that occurred in Syangja. Similarly, a couple was killed in the landslide in Myagdi.
Prem Kumari, 12 and Bishu, 8, of Khanichhap-7 in Palpa, who had gone to watch television at a neighbor´s house were killed after the house collapsed in the landslide following heavy rains, informed Chief of Palpa police Sthaneshwor Regmi.
Similarly, in another landslide, Durga Bahadur Sunari, 56, of Pipaldanda-7, Palpa died after his house was swept away in the landslide. Sunari´s 12 year old son Chhabilal has received serious injuries in the incident.
Likewise, Dil Bahadur Sarki, 30, of Chinnebas-7 in Syangja and Rita Bhattarai, 25, of Kuwakot-4 in Syangja was also killed in separate incidents of landslides.
Deputy Superintendent of Police in Syangja Somendra Singh Rathaur informed that a three-month old baby of Kamal BK of Sekham was also killed when the landslide destroyed his house.
A dozen other families have been displaced in by the flooding Jyagdi River in Syangja.
Another landslide at Bhamkili-7 in Myadgi killed Man Bahadur Gharti and his wife Nandakali Gharti on Monday morning. The landslide at various places in the district ravaged properties worth millions of rupees, police said.
Moreover, five of a same family at Marbu-1 in Dolakha and another four in Chitwan have gone missing in landslides. Pale Thami,84, his wife Siva Laxmi, 70, daughter Jamuna, 40, grandson Binod, 14, and granddaughter Sanju, 12, have gone missing after their house was swept away by the landslide in Dolakha on Monday morning, according to Mingma Sherpa ,a local. The landslide has also displaced 20 families in the village.
Similarly, Ramu Mahato, 20, of Meghauli, and Prem Rai, Mohan Rai, and Sajan Rai, from Gaidakot-6, Nawalparasi went missing in the flooding Narayani River in Chitwan. According to the information provided by Palpa Police, landslides have also obstructed transport movement at various sections of the Palpa-Gulmi and Palpa-Syangja roads.
Meanwhile, Republica correspondent in Pyuthan LB Thapa reports that the landslides have blocked almost all road networks in the district. As a result hundreds of passengers have been stranded.
