LAHAN, April 4: At least four people died on the spot after a bus and a motorcycle collided at Balanal of the district on Friday night.
The deceased have been identified as Shatrudhan Mahato, 19, Sobhat Lal Mahato, 19, Abinash Singh 17 and Oman Singh, 21 of Daulatpur, Saptari.

According to DSP Uma Prasad Chaturbedi at Area Police Office, Lahan, all those killed were travelling in the motorcycle. The mishap happened when the bus, Na 5 Kha 4973, heading to Kathmandu and the motorcycle, Sa 4 Pa 9689, heading to Daulatpur collided head-on.
“After preliminary investigation, it is known that the biker lost control due to overload and hit the bus,” Chaturbedi said.
The dead bodies have been kept at the Rau Memorial Hospital for postmortem. Police said they have arrested the bus driver and impounded the bus.
