HETAUDA, March 8: Prashant Upreti of the Rastriya Swatantra Party has emerged victorious in Makwanpur-2, securing a decisive win in the House of Representatives election.
According to the Chief Election Officer’s office, Upreti garnered 31,725 votes, comfortably ahead of his closest rival, Mahesh Kumar Bartaula of the CPN-UML, who received 19,624 votes. Buddha Lama of the Nepali Congress secured 15,426 votes, while Lab Sher Bista of the Nepali Communist Party received 12,754 votes.

The 25-year-old Upreti, a resident of Manahari Rural Municipality-7, is a teacher by profession and also operates a hotel and tourism business. His victory is seen as an important gain for RSP in the district.
Voter turnout in Makwanpur’s two constituencies reached 59 percent, where 21 candidates from various political parties and independents competed, reflecting a highly competitive electoral race.
