Jhapa District Health Office (DHO) claims the number of dengue patients has been increasing everyday. The office also said that many of the patients were being taken to India for treatment. [break]
“We have only recorded patients who seek treatment at local hospitals. The number of dengue patients going to India for treatment is equally high,” said an official at DHO.
On Sunday, one more patient tested positive for dengue infection.
Talking to Republica, another dengue patient shared most of the patients are from Kakarvitta. “Many of these patients are receiving treatment in Siliguri of India,” said the patient.
Last year, 77 persons had contracted dengue fever in Mechinagar Municipality. “Dengue patients suffer from high fever and headache,” said a dengue expert. Dengue outbreak had been reported in Sanishchare, Charpane, Anarmani and Mechinagar VDC of the district.
Vector controller of DHO Bhed Prasad Ghimire warned of the spread of dengue if preventive measures are not taken immediately.
