NSKA felicitates Shrestha

KATHMANDU: Nepal Shotokan Karate Association (NSKA) felicitated Mamita Shrestha on Sunday in Kathmandu for winning gold medal in the WTKO Karate Championship held in Switzerland. [break]



Shrestha had clinched gold medal in veteran´s single kata event of the championship organized by World Traditional Karate Organization. National Sports Council Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama handed over letter of appreciation and cash prize of Rs 50,000.



Nepal claims seven bronze medals



KATHMANDU: Nepal claimed seven bronze medals in the South Asian Junior Table Tennis Championship that concluded in New Delhi, India. According to All Nepal Table Tennis Association President Chaturanand Rajbaidya, Nepali team of Mani Lama, Piyush Awal and Nihal Shrestha claimed bronze medal in junior boys´ team event defeating Bangladesh while Nepali junior girls´ team, which included Manita Chitrakar, Kajol Rauniyar and Sunita Lama, also defeated Bangladesh to claim bronze.



 Awal and Lama teamed up to claim bronze in junior boys´ doubles while pair Rauniyar and Chitrakar finished third in junior girls´ doubles. Awal claimed his third bronze medal in junior boys´ singles. In cadet section, team of Krishna Thapa Magar and Syantu Shrestha won bronze in boys´ team event while Sonu Thapa Magar and Geeta Aryal claimed bronze in girls´ team event.
