The Association started the relay hunger strike in-front of the Constituent Assembly near the Civil Servants Hospital saying the government did not address their demands when the attention of the government was drawn on it since four years ago. [break]
According to Chairman of the Association, Narayan Prasad Koirala, they have been compelled to launch the relay hunger strike after their demands were not listened to as they tried frequently to have them addressed in the new constitution.
The Association said that the government´s decision to close Gorkha recruitment centre was wrong.
The Association has put forth the demand for giving continuity to the Nepali citizenship by descent provided to the servicemen working at British Gorkha, ex-servicemen and their generation.
The Association has also urged the government to make arrangement for welfare of this community in the new constitution respecting their incomparable contribution for around two centuries for freedom and world peace.
Chairman Koirala, senior Vice-chairman Dharma Bahadur Kshetri, Vice-chairman Khadga Bahadur Shahi, General Secretary Garja Bahadur Gurung, members DB Rai and Narayan Sunyal of the Association are in the relay hunger strike.
