KATHMANDU, April 13: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has initiated enhancing the beauty of the city through paintings. In collaboration with the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, the KMC has started painting artistic pictures on the walls at public places.

Around 73 artworks including paintings, drawings and sculptures by late veteran artist Uttam Kharel is on display at Nepal Art Council, Babermahal. The exhibition began on March 17 and is organized by Sirjana College of Fine Arts.

KATHMANDU, Nov 21: The art exhibition 'Sound of Existence' by artist Manish Lal Shrestha is on display from November 12 at Dalai-la, Thamel.

The male form in various states of undress has featured in Nepali art for centuries. Just look at the Chakrasamvara Mandala, a 13th-century Nepali paubha painting depicting the union of the deity Chakrasamvara and his consort Vajravarahi, or the many statues in erotic poses found at the Hindu temples of Kathmandu.

KATHMANDU, July 24: British artist and social activist Jan Salter has donated 54 of her portrait paintings to Maiti Nepal. The ninety year old artist handed over the paintings to Maiti Nepal’s Anuradha Koirala in a farewell ceremony held for her at the organization.
