A Musical Journey From Folk To Jazz

A pioneer for introducing Gypsy Jazz in Nepal in 2000, Hari Maharjan has been dedicated in the field of music as a guitarist for more than two decades now. Gypsy jazz, which he introduced in Nepal, is a style of jazz music believed to have been started around Paris in the 1930s.

Nepali folk songs have been a fundamental part of our culture for a long time for they carry hints of our lifestyle, language, rites and traditions. However, folk music is losing its authenticity with growing modernization.

Nepathya performed their first ever concert in the Kiwi Island at the Sky City Theatre in Auckland on Friday. According to the press statement released by Nepa-laya, after the concert, the audience thanked the band for bringing the gift of folk taste from Nepal.
